Countless communities and churches in Ukraine have been desecrated or destroyed at the hands of Russian forces. We pray for their restoration, and we pray for the safety of their congregation members.

Prayer of Pastor Gennady Pylypenko, Kharkiv Transfiguration Church

Introduction

Thank you for your desire to pray for peace in Ukraine.

In the Kharkiv Church of the Transfiguration, worship services have not stopped since the beginning of the war. Every Sunday, worship services are held from 10 am to 12 pm, during which we pray for God’s protection of Ukraine from the Russian invaders and for an end to the war.

In addition, prayer services are held daily, from Monday to Friday, from 12 pm.
On Thursdays, members of our church participate in prayer and fasting for various needs of believers and non-believers related to the war.

Due to the war, approximately 30 percent of our church members left Kharkiv. But other people arrived in Kharkiv – displaced persons from various cities and villages of Eastern Ukraine. Several dozen people attend Sunday worship services. About 100 people study the Bible in small groups. Thank God!

Here is our prayer request:

  • We pray for Ukraine’s leaders: for wisdom and God’s guidance.
  • We pray for God’s protection of Ukraine’s defenders.
  • We pray for healing and prosthetics for the wounded.
  • We pray for the families of military personnel, for their needs, for their faith in the Lord.
  • We pray for the conversion to the Lord of the non-church people who visit our services and groups.

Prayer from Lyudmila M., in Ukraine’s Kyiv region

My name is Lyudmila. I live in the Kyiv region.
Every Saturday we gather in the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SAD) prayer house for worship and joint prayers.

We believe God’s Word and rely on God’s promises in our prayers.

We pray:

  • for the end of the war, and for the enemy to refuse to fight and to leave Ukraine;
  • that believers should not be forced to kill, but instead be given alternative, non-military service;
  • for the wounded and prisoners;
  • for all those who defend the country to stay alive;
  • for all those under occupation, and for the liberation of the occupied territories;
  • for those who have lost their relatives and friends;
  • for those who have lost their homes and property;
  • for an end to the daily shelling of our territories;
  • for the volunteers who risk their lives on the front lines, helping those who are in the war zone;
  • for the authorities of Ukraine, so that they are guided by God’s principles in the management of the country, and make wise decisions for the benefit of the people;
  • for the sick;
  • for the children;
  • for the youth;
  • for the elderly;
  • for the conversion of people to God;
  • for the quick Second Coming of Jesus Christ to our Earth, so that sin, and all the consequences of sin, would be put to an end.

Almighty and Great God,
accept our gratitude for your boundless mercy towards us.
Hear the supplication of our afflicted hearts for the land and people of Ukraine,
as they confront foreign aggression and invasion.
Open the eyes of those who have been overtaken
by a spirit of deception and violence,
that they be horrified by their works.
Grant victory over the powers of evil that have arisen
and bless Ukraine with your gifts of liberty, peace, tranquillity, and good fortune.

We implore you, O Merciful God,
look with grace upon those who courageously defend their land.
Remember the mothers and fathers, the innocent children,
widows and orphans, the disabled and helpless,
those seeking shelter and refuge,
who reach out to you and to their fellow human beings
looking for mercy and compassion.
Bless the hearts of those who have already shown great generosity and solidarity,
and those who prepare to receive their Ukrainian brothers and sisters
in Ukraine’s greatest time of need.
Bring us together as your children, your creation,
and instil in us your strength, wisdom and understanding.

May you be praised and glorified,
now and forever, and to the ages of ages.
